About this service
Age-related macular degeneration is the leading cause of severe vision loss in adults over 60. Like glaucoma, early AMD often has no symptoms — but treatments (when needed) work best when started early. Screening uses retinal imaging to look for the earliest signs of macular changes, and Amsler-grid testing can help patients monitor for new symptoms between exams.

- Patients with a family history of macular degeneration
- Smokers (the single largest modifiable risk factor for AMD)
- Patients noticing distortion, dark spots, or central-vision changes

Why this matters
Wet AMD can be treated with injections that often preserve or improve vision — but only if caught quickly. Dry AMD progression can be slowed with the right nutritional support. Early detection makes both possible.
