About Summit Eye Care Services

Bringing comprehensive, board-certified eye care to communities across Idaho, Montana, and Missouri — through modern technology and a commitment to patient-first service.

Our Mission

To make excellent eye care accessible, efficient, and patient-centered — using modern tele-optometry technology to bring board-certified expertise to communities that have historically been underserved by traditional clinical infrastructure.

Why Tele-Optometry

Excellent eye care should not depend on whether you live near a major city. For decades, patients in smaller communities have faced the same trade-off: accept long drives and limited appointment availability at distant clinics, or skip routine exams and risk the consequences of late-diagnosed eye disease.

Tele-optometry resolves that trade-off. Modern digital diagnostic equipment captures everything a doctor needs — visual acuity, refraction, eye pressure, retinal images, slit-lamp evaluation — and a board-certified optometrist licensed in your state reviews the results and consults with you in real time over a secure, HIPAA-compliant video link. The exam is comprehensive. The doctor is real. The prescription is the same one you'd receive at any traditional clinic. And by leveraging modern technology, we can bring that experience to a Vision Center near you instead of asking you to drive an hour.

The published clinical research is clear: for routine comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings, and screening for the eye conditions most likely to affect your vision over a lifetime — glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration — tele-optometry produces results clinically equivalent to traditional in-person exams. We've built our practice around that evidence.

What We Stand For

Board-certified, state-licensed optometrists

Every exam is conducted by a state-licensed doctor of optometry under direct, real-time supervision. Same professional standards, same scope of practice, same accountability as any community clinic.

Full-spectrum eye care

Comprehensive vision exams, glasses and contact-lens prescriptions, and screening for the full range of eye-health conditions — glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, dry eye, and keratoconus.

Equivalent clinical outcomes

Peer-reviewed research consistently shows tele-optometry produces clinical results equivalent to in-person exams for routine vision care and screening for common eye conditions.

HIPAA-compliant technology

Encrypted, secure communication channels. Your exam data and personal health information are protected to the same standard as any modern medical record.

Compliance, Privacy & Trust

As a healthcare provider, we are bound by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) requirements for the protection of your personal health information. All exam data is transmitted over encrypted channels and stored in secure, HIPAA-compliant systems. Tele-optometry sessions are not recorded without your explicit consent. You have the right to access, correct, and request restrictions on your information at any time — see our Privacy Policy for details.

Every optometrist conducting an exam holds an active license in the state where the exam is performed and is bound by that state's optometric board's standards of practice. Federal law also guarantees you a written copy of your glasses and contact lens prescriptions, which you can fill at any retailer.
